Gratifying Granny Square

Designed by Cheryl D. Floyd of

Don’t you just love the way Cheryl puts colors together? The Gratifying Granny Square is another of her wonderful 12″ afghan blocks. In this case, you’ll be making 4 six inch blocks and stitching them together to create a full 12 inch block.

She designed the pattern for 7 bright colors, but, you could easily use as many as your creativity, budget or stash allows. This dimensional granny square features a central flower with 8 petals and 4 leaves. Cheryl recommends this project for intermediate crocheters who are familiar with doing slip stitch, chain, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, extended double crochet, treble crochet, pointy picot, and needle joining (aka invisible join).

Cheryl used Caron Simply Soft yarn for the sample we’ve shared with you along with a pair of others you’ll find on her website.
